Gut Health: The Major cause of Your Health Problems

Gut Health: The Major cause of Your Health Problems

Digestive Health has been a hot topic for me lately because although I ate a pretty clean diet I realized that I was still low in some of my vitamins. After in-depth researching, I realized the gut is fundamental to a healthy body– if the gut is compromised everything else will not function properly. Most people are suffering from some form of gut health-related symptoms.

If you are or have experienced:

  • Bloating
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Candida
  • Flatulence
  • Constipation.
  • Allergies
  • Infections from parasites/yeast
  • Diabetes
  • Skin issues (eczema, Keratosis pilaris, Acne, psoriasis, dermatitis)
  • Low White cell count
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Headaches
  • acid reflux/heartburn

These are all signs that your gut is not functioning as optimally as it should be.

This topic will be a multiple part series because I want the information to be easily digested (no pun intended) and I want you all to take away critical information from it.

So first let’s start with the importance of the GUT.

Think of the GUT as the root of a tree. If trees lacked roots it wouldn’t be able to absorb any water from the soil and the whole process and the growth of the tree would simply malfunction, to say the least. That’s exactly what’s going on when your gut isn’t functioning properly!

The most basic thing your gut needs to function optimally is hydrochloric acid (HCL) and enzymes. Hydrochloric acid is the stomach acid your body needs to assist in breaking down food. HCL prepares food for digestion, converts pepsinogen into pepsin which in turn digests proteins into peptides. HCL and enzymes help the body to destroy parasites and harmful bacteria before they go deeper into our bodies.

It is reported that almost 80% of the population lacks enough stomach acid and enzymes to properly break down their foods.

If your foods aren’t being broken down that means it’s putrefying in the gut and isn’t being correctly assimilated to where it needs to go. Most importantly, if your digestive juices aren’t breaking down the foods you eat.

Then that means you aren’t absorbing most if any of your nutrients!

That’s why it is critical to have a strong functioning gut. Once this system becomes weakened it leaves the body permeable to disease. Remember, Every disease starts in the gut.

I hope this blog post helped you understand just how vital the function of the gut is. In part 2 we will discuss more on the gut and helpful tips to help you correct gut issues if you are struggling.
