Diges­tive Health has been a hot top­ic for me late­ly because although I ate a pret­ty clean diet I real­ized that I was still low in some of my vit­a­mins. After in-depth research­ing, I real­ized the gut is fun­da­men­tal to a healthy body– if the gut is com­pro­mised every­thing else will not func­tion prop­er­ly. Most peo­ple are suf­fer­ing from some form of gut health-relat­ed symp­toms.

If you are or have expe­ri­enced:

  • Bloat­ing
  • Irri­ta­ble bow­el syn­drome
  • Can­di­da
  • Flat­u­lence
  • Con­sti­pa­tion.
  • Aller­gies
  • Infec­tions from parasites/yeast

  • Skin issues (eczema, Ker­ato­sis pilaris, Acne, pso­ri­a­sis, der­mati­tis)
  • Low White cell count
  • Autoim­mune dis­eases

These are all signs that your gut is not func­tion­ing as opti­mal­ly as it should be.

This top­ic will be a mul­ti­ple part series because I want the infor­ma­tion to be eas­i­ly digest­ed (no pun intend­ed) and I want you all to take away crit­i­cal infor­ma­tion from it.

So first let’s start with the importance of the GUT.

Think of the GUT as the root of a tree. If trees lacked roots it would­n’t be able to absorb any water from the soil and the whole process and the growth of the tree would sim­ply mal­func­tion, to say the least. That’s exact­ly what’s going on when your gut isn’t func­tion­ing prop­er­ly!

The most basic thing your gut needs to func­tion opti­mal­ly is hydrochlo­ric acid (HCL) and enzymes. Hydrochlo­ric acid is the stom­ach acid your body needs to assist in break­ing down food. HCL pre­pares food for diges­tion, con­verts pepsino­gen into pepsin which in turn digests pro­teins into pep­tides. HCL and enzymes help the body to destroy par­a­sites and harm­ful bac­te­ria before they go deep­er into our bod­ies.

It is report­ed that almost 80% of the pop­u­la­tion lacks enough stom­ach acid and enzymes to prop­er­ly break down their foods.

If your foods aren’t being bro­ken down that means it’s putre­fy­ing in the gut and isn’t being cor­rect­ly assim­i­lat­ed to where it needs to go. Most impor­tant­ly, if your diges­tive juices aren’t break­ing down the foods you eat.

Then that means you aren’t absorb­ing most if any of your nutri­ents!

That’s why it is crit­i­cal to have a strong func­tion­ing gut. Once this sys­tem becomes weak­ened it leaves the body per­me­able to dis­ease. Remem­ber, Every dis­ease starts in the gut.
